What is TikTok Events API?

The TikTok Events API is a Server-to-Server (S2S) integration that allows marketers to share website and app visitor events directly to TikTok. Data that is shared via the Events API is processed similarly to information shared via the TikTok Pixel and TikTok SDK business tools. Brands can leverage events data to power solutions like dynamic product ads, custom targeting, campaign optimization and attribution.

Best Practices of TikTok Events API:

Click ID

A Click ID is a unique identifier that is appended to the click url every time a person clicks on an ad on TikTok. Once the website is loaded, Tealium can help you to store the Click ID and share it back to TikTok everytime the person triggers an event. Each Click ID is unique and is valid for 7 days.

Advanced Matching

Advanced Matching is a feature that enables you to send customer emails and phone numbers in a privacy-safe way for those to be matched with people on TikTok. To increase the probability of matching events with people on TikTok, the recommendation is to use both Click ID and Advanced Matching together.

How Do I Get Started?

In Tealium, you can then find the connector in our server-side marketplace for EventStream by simply selecting the “TikTok Events” connector and begin the setup and testing process.

Requirements:


  • The advertiser must be willing to use TikTok Pixel in the Tealium container tag or 3rd party Tag Management (TMS) to enable passing Click and Advanced Matching IDs through the Pixel for deduplication purposes.

  • Customer data submitted on the page (typically associated with deep conversions, e.g. purchases/leads/sign-up, etc).
