# The AI Advantage Will Belong to Those Who Can Give It Context

Robbie RizmanJuly 20, 2026

I believe we are entering one of the most important shifts in how businesses **create value.**

AI is no longer a distant possibility or a side experiment. It is already reshaping how organisations think, operate and engage with customers. Boards are investing. Teams are experimenting. Marketers, technologists and data leaders are all asking the same question: **how do we turn AI from promise into performance?**

But what I see across the market is a growing gap between **AI ambition and AI impact.**

It is not because the models are not powerful enough. It is because too many organisations are asking AI to act **without giving it the context** it needs to be useful.

An AI agent cannot deliver a meaningful customer experience if it does not know who the customer is, what they have just done, what they have consented to, or what matters in that moment. A chatbot cannot become a trusted assistant if it is **disconnected from real-time behaviour**. A recommendation engine cannot drive growth if it is operating on **stale, incomplete or fragmented data.**

AI without context is intelligence without direction.

The next phase of AI will not be defined by who adopts the newest model first. It will be defined by who can connect data, decisioning and action in **real time.** The winners will be the organisations that can help AI understand the customer, respect governance, act in the moment and learn from every interaction.

This requires a different way of thinking about data. Data can no longer be treated as something that sits quietly in the background, collected after the fact and analysed later. In the age of AI, data becomes the living signal that **powers every decision, every interaction and every experience.**

That means organisations need a **real-time data foundation** that can capture customer signals as they happen, make them usable across systems and feed outcomes back into the business. Collection, activation and learning need to become one continuous loop.

This is where the real opportunity lies.

AI has the potential to make customer experiences more intuitive, more responsive and more human. It can help teams move faster, make better decisions and create value at a scale we have not seen before. But only if it is grounded in trusted, consented and actionable data.

The future of AI will not simply belong to the organisations with the most technology. It will belong to those with the **clearest understanding of their customers, the strongest data foundations**and the **ability to act with relevance in real time.**

AI is ready to transform business. Now businesses must get ready to give AI what it needs to truly perform.

If you're thinking about what that means for your organisation, our **on-demand session** goes deeper. Watch [Real-Time Contextual Customer Data: The Key to Winning in the Age of AI](https://tealium.com/resource/webinar/real-time-contextual-customer-data-the-key-to-winning-in-the-age-of-ai/)
to explore how leading organisations are building the **real-time data foundations that make AI perform in production, not just in pilots.**
