We’re proud that several of the companies that made Internet Retailer’s 2015 Hot 100 list happen to be Tealium customers. Every year, editors and researchers from the magazine make a list of e-retailers whom they view as e-commerce influencers and award them with the coveted honor. Their highly selective process includes leaning on leading industry experts who submit nominations, as well as evaluate nominees submitted by retailers themselves and their technology partners.
In previous years, the Hot 100 list was primarily chosen through design-driven criteria; but this year, it became all about innovation. Why the sudden change? Because e-commerce has evolved, and these days, an aesthetically pleasing and usable e-retail site is the norm. So, in order to be considered for the Hot 100 list in 2015, the editors looked at the various ways e-retailers creatively differentiated themselves from the pack. There are so many new things to consider, such as the use of mobile apps or the different methods retailers can take orders (think shopping tools on social networks, and web-connected devices separate from an actual computer).
This year is also different because Internet Retailer added an omnichannel category. The category showcases the retailers who are taking a platform-agnostic approach to their strategy and forging the connection between online and offline. Tealium customers like American Eagle Outfitters are no strangers to bridging that gap. Using Tealium AudienceStream, information about American Eagle’s online shoppers is leveraged to up-sell those same customers when they come to the store and pick up their order.
