Tealium DataCloud Enables Marketers to Fuel Their Big Data Initiatives by Creating an Actionable Source of Digital Data

San Diego, CA (Jan 23, 2013) – Tealium, the leader in data-centric tag management solutions, today announced the launch of Tealium DataCloud, a new add-on service that extends the value of tag management by enabling digital marketers to tap into a highly actionable source of all of their digital data. The company made the announcement on the eve of Digital Velocity, the industry’s largest tag management user conference, which runs tomorrow through Friday at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego.

With Tealium iQ, the company’s market-leading tag management solution, organizations can more easily manage the exchange of data between their mission-critical third-party digital marketing vendors. By addingTealium DataCloud, they can get a raw feed of this rich data, store it in one centralized location, and then make it available to data-driven marketing teams. This data can be used to create powerful visitor-level profiles that can be used to increase the effectiveness of customer acquisition campaigns.

“Creating a seamless collection and transport mechanism for digital data is what tag management is all about,” said Gary Angel, president and CTO of Semphonic, a leading web analytics consultancy. “Tealium’s DataCloud takes it to the next level by giving digital marketers a fast, cost-effective way to access this detailed data, and use it for their big data initiatives.”

In addition to providing a data feed, Tealium DataCloud adds another component: the ability to handle non-JavaScript tagging environments, such as Google Checkout, which do not accept the JavaScript tags that most vendors use. This gives Tealium the industry’s most robust tag management platform.

“Tealium DataCloud will enable us to handle our Google Checkout requirements, and make sure we can deploy mission-critical third-party tags across our entire e-commerce environment, regardless of whether or not JavaScript is supported,” said Mona Van De Weghe, e-commerce director at CHEFScatalog.com, a leading retailer that offers the KitchenAid, Cuisinart, and other major kitchen and cooking brands. “Beyond its technology, Tealium has shown the type of customer support we need to be successful.”

“With Tealium DataCloud, we are leading a new data-centric approach to tag management,” said Erik Bratt, vice president of marketing for Tealium. “At the end of the day, digital marketers optimize their results via data. Tealium DataCloud dramatically expands their access to rich, actionable data that can be used to improve customer acquisition across multiple channels.”

The data feed from Tealium DataCloud can be imported into business intelligence platforms, big data platforms, or third-party reporting tools, including ones offered by AgilOne, Anametrix, Tableau Software, and Quantivo.

“Tealium DataCloud is a game changer because it enables digital marketers to unleash the full spectrum of digital data that is available to them, and get it in a correlated, standardized format that can be used to enrich big data,” said Tom Winchell, strategic alliance director for AgilOne, which offers predictive marketing intelligence and reporting platforms. “Through AgilOne, digital marketers can connect the dots between online and offline data and find insights they could never see before.”

In conjunction with today’s launch, Tealium has issued a free white paper, “Data-Centric Tag Management: Why Data is the Foundation of Enterprise Tag Management.”

Digital Velocity is the industry’s largest tag management user’s conference, featuring best practices, hands-on training (Tag Management University), and valuable networking.
